“When you have more than what you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence.” - Anonymous Introduction to the SDG In a world where cities occupy just 3% of the land but account for as much as 70% of global energy consumption, and 70% of global carbon emissions, Goal 11 aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. As new cities develop amidst rapid urbanization, it is estimated that cities will house as much as 60% of the global population by the year 2030. Carrying out urban development in a planned and effective manner is instrumental in ensuring a sustainable future.
